Liputto: Stories of Gnomes and Trolls by Jakob Streit
GNOMES, TROLLS, ELVES AND OTHER LITTLE FOLK
Liputto is a lovely collection of short, easy to read aloud stories by master storyteller, Jakob Streit, drawn from the lands of Northern Europe and featuring brave, good and helpful gnomes, elves, trolls and other little folk.
In particular, we follow the adventures of Liputto, a curious gnome who loves to help mountain flowers grow. These stories will delight both young and old who read them (and all in between) and are also perfect for a read-aloud to children and as a storytelling venture.
BEST AGE FOR LIPUTTO
The stories were originally written by Jakob for his Waldorf class 1 students, but children in Kindergarten up to 2nd grade are the perfect age. The stories range in length from 1 page long to five pages long, with most being between 2-3 pages. The font is set with some distance between the letters and the lines so that each story is a quick read for adults to memorize for retelling as a story or as a read aloud. See sample story pages in the photos. Charming black and white illustrations accompany the book by Althea Mitchell.
