This Choroi Quinta Pentatonic Flute is a no tone block flute and was specially developed for children to support their free-playing. The flute sound stays warm, pleasant and soft.

WHY A NO TONE BLOCK FLUTE IS EASIER FOR CHILDREN TO LEARN TO PLAY
No tone block flutes are easy to play. A child is able to play with a relaxed mouth posture, resulting in free flowing air rather than having to purposely blow.
SPECIAL FINGER HOLE CARVING
The six specially shaped finger holes (seven-tone range: d”-e”-g”-a”-b”-d”’-e”’) allow the fingers to gently touch, also enabling half steps to be played by simply half-covering the hole.
440 Hz TUNED

WHAT DO I STILL NEED TO GET
- Flute Oil
- Cotton Cloth
You’ll need to oil your flute when you receive it and then keep it oiled frequently. This prevents the wood from drying out and enhances the tonal quality of the flute.
The oil should be either Choroi flute oil or organic jojoba oil. Any other flute oil is not made for cherry wood and may ruin your flute!
The cotton cloth can be any lint free cloth that can be partially torn or cut into strips. The cotton cloth is to rub the oil on and buff the outside of the flute. Tearing part of the cloth into strips is so you can place the strips through the wooden swab and spread oil inside the flute (do not use the leather swab with the oil as it’s for removing moisture).
IS YOUR CHILD ENROLLED IN A WALDORF SCHOOL?
If your child is enrolled in a Waldorf school, they will most likely be introduced to the pentatonic flute in grade 1 either just after an interval flute introduction or in lieu of an interval flute. They continue to play the pentatonic flute in grade 2 and beyond and even after learning the diatonic flute in grade 3 and the recorder in grades 5 or 6 and 7.
CLEANING AND CARE
Clean with child-safe organic jojoba oil or Choroi flute oil using lint free cotton. We recommend oiling your flute at least once or twice a month to maintain its tonal quality and keep the wood in top condition.
Use the leather swabs every time you play to remove moisture that accumulates inside the flute from your breath.
